ukraine children

Ania, 17 years old
»I come from Luhansk and have been staying with my uncle in Kyiv since June 2014.
When the war began in Luhansk in May 2014, my parents decided that I should go for some time with my grandmother to Kyiv, but soon it became clear that the war was lasting longer.
Later on my parents also moved to Kyiv and it was very difficult for them to get out of the war zone. My father does not talk as much about it. First, the pro-Russian separatists didn't want him to leave.
I finished school and now I go to university. My course specializes in history and orientalism. I spend the summer holidays in a camp for child refugees, apart from that I spend time with friends or me and my parents go to the beach.
I'm afraid that something happens even in Kyiv and we have to give up everything and are forced to leave.
I often think of my old relatives and our home in Luhansk and our dog which we had to leave. Sometimes something appears in my dreams, but it's nothing terrible.
I wish to be happy and that everything will be fine again and that I experience so many beautiful moments like at the moment in the summer camp. I would like to thank the camp again, that I can spend my time here during the summer.«
