About 13 000 Yazidis are living in tents in the Sardashti camp on a high plateau in the Sinjar Mountains.
When Daesh attacked their villages in 2014, they fled to the mountains where Daesh could not gain control. In winter the temperature falls up to − 20 ° C cold on this plateau, it frequently rains and in the summer temperatures reach up to 38 ° C.
