ukraine children

Polina, 11 years old
»I have no siblings, but at the end of August I'll probably have a little brother.
I came with my parents from Luhansk to Kyiv.
When I went to school in Luhansk, the shooting started and my mother took me to my grandmother, but there was shooting too. Then my grandfather got train tickets for my grandmother and me and we drove directly to Kyiv. My little cousin and my aunt already lived in Kyiv and we were able to stay with them.
Afterwards my mother and my grandfather came and only my father was still in Luhansk. But when it was getting worse there, he also came to us in Kyiv and we wanted a separate small apartment, because my mother is pregnant.
Now everything is fine, none of us is in the war region anymore, except our grandparents, who visit us every now and then.
In school, I have no favorite subjects, I like everything a bit. I have also friends here and a former schoolmate from Luhansk attends the parallel class in my school. We also try to make new friends. We have a lot of homework, particularly in math. For the summer holidays I received 86 math exercises and we should read 26 books, but probably not everything is important and I've read a lot of books yet.
I would be happy if I could have our old apartment again and I don't know if we go back to Luhansk. I had my own room there and here everything is provisional and needed. We are four in one room. However, my aunt is at work for the the whole day.
Since my mother is pregnant, I often dream of my future brother.
My only which is peace and I'm unsure what to do in the future. Maybe I'll become a fashion designer like every girl who loves to draw so much like me. I thank you.«
