»I started my sailing school six month ago, but I had planned it for more than five years.<< >>
It was very hard getting a licence, because nearly all the beaches are state property in Greece. That means, if you like to do something related to the sea or the beach you need a state permit. If you do something that did not exist before, it is particularly difficult.
Instead of supporting a new business idea, the public authorities tell you that this doesn't work. In my opinion the public authorities don't serve the citizens in Greece but are acting more like an authority serving only ist own interest.
And this is a big difference, instead of helping people with their problems and looking for legal solutions, the public services are trying to avoid responsibility for anything new and one is discouraged to start a new idea.
For example, for four years now Namco has been trying to develop a new car in Greece (a new edition of the pony), but they haven't get a license yet and can not start.
I am happy that I managed to open my sailing school but the way we got there wasn't very encouraging and this has been a similar experience for others in Greece.
I really wanted to make it and I was told, it's not possible, but I've done it and that was my goal. Many of my friends have left this country, but I didn't want to leave before I had realized my idea. I hope that my sailing school will be a success.
I am deeply disappointed with the young Greeks as they have no more dreams and big ideas but are already happy if they get a 200–300 euro job at all.«
