Adolfo, Juan Manuel started a business with wild berries

»Originally I was a horticulture teacher and worked in social programs for drug addicts, but these programs were adjusted as a result of the economic crisis.
That's why I and a colleague started a plantation of wild berries on a two hectare plot of land three years ago.
At first it was very difficult, and friends and family supported me and my younger colleague got support from the government. So far, we do not make a profit, there is still a lack of money for necessary investments in the third year.
We sell our fruit directly to end users in markets or in ecological shops and people also have the opportunity to pick fruit by themselves. Self picking fruit is going well because people see where the fruit grow.
However, there is now a strong competition in organic food, but we differentiate ourselves through the quality of our products, which is tastier and fresher thanks to growing the plants outdoor instead of in greenhouses. Our customers are looking for quality and local products that are especially durable and aromatic.« —Juan Manuel
